The Boat-billed Heron lives in mangrove swamps from Mexico south to Peru and Brazil. It is nocturnal.
It's huge broad scoop-like bill gives rise to it's name. They feed on small mammals, amphibians, crabs, shrimp, and fish. I like it's large brown eyes.

downloads are best.

Cool bird! The thumbnails of #3 and #4 show the effects of using the wrong color space on this website. Be sure to convert to sRGB when you export to the jpg you plan to post.

Also, anything wider than 2500 pixels, the more compressed a thumbnail becomes. I downloaded #4 and it's more than 7,000 pixels wide. Only those viewers with super-large, highest resolution monitors will see any benefit at all.

New to me too! It looks kinda like a Black Crowned Night Heron with a transplanted head!
