Wiki Sez: An Aussie must have a firearm licence to possess or use a firearm.
[1] Licence holders must demonstrate a "genuine reason" (which does not include self-defence) for holding a firearm licence (? so farmers could have a 'krav maga 308' for coyotes, and a Desert Eagle against rabid chickens ?)
[2] and must not be a "prohibited person". All firearms must be registered by serial number to the owner.

Funny - much against the predictions of the gun haters, the wild west has Not returned to Texas.
In fact - crooks know that 1 in 10 Texans regularly carry - so they all go to chicago or kalifornia where only the bad guys have guns. I will NOT voluntarily travel to either of those states. Blue is Much Too Dangerous.
