Please excuse my rant....but I'm really getting fed up with some people (okay...more than some) can't seem to contribute anything helpful. Maybe that's why I like coming to the UHH. For the most part everyone is as helpful as they can and when it warrants or in Chit Chat..funny.

While we were in the moving process and after we moved to Florida I was in some groups about moving to Florida. I put up with the negativity then because I was looking for information. Now that we've moved I'm there to help those looking to move to Florida. Unfortunately, there are a number of nabobs of negativity who have to complain about how bad they have it in Florida, be it traffic, the heat, bugs, or whatever. Then telling people not to move to Florida for whatever reason they have.

I've already left a few of them because of this....but it still frustrates me. Yeah...I know I'm old and this is what the inter webs has become.

Please resume your normal programming.

Some people here have to say something contrary about everything. Apparently they have nothing else to do. Go fishing or just enjoy a boat ride. Enjoy the sunshine. Be thankful that you don't have to shovel snow. Best to forget about it. Nothing is going to change. Nothing from strangers is worth getting upset about.

Well, when I moved to Altamonte Springs, FL in 1979, the population was 3.500.
When I left in 2006, the population was 35,000.

That's the main reason people don't want people moving to Florida........
Too many people.

Every time there's a Chamber of Commerce commercial for our mountain on a place like Facebook, a handful of locals pop up to tell the flatlanders to stay in the desert—we don't want you here plugging up our roads, speeding us up or slowing us down. You just come here to start wildfires with your bad camping habits, so just stay home. And God forbid you come here from Calfornia...

Yeah, the hotels, restaurants and what have you need the money, but we'd rather see them go out of business than have all these rich tourists here interfering with our poverty.

We feel the same way here! Now the beaches are turned into condos (the plates you see in june) and farm land turned into housing developments inland. Where are these people going to get water? Waste management? Where will thier feces go? I've seen 10000 acre lots off I-75 with 3 almost complete ruin while there are no grocery stores and most roads are two lanes for farm equipment for anything from strawberries and beans to cattle. Most annoying to me is the sell off of small motels across entire towns already suffering from traffic wanting to expand and build more with out explanation of water and sewage at the very least. Traffic in Florida now is ridiculous and it dosnt matter what kind of roads they build, the clueless still make life miserable. Any time a friend is moving back north ,I ask if they could get a few more to go with them and see if each of those friends could get thier friends to move back North where everyone and everything is better.hate watching all the beach town being destroyed by greed and market, but it has also moved predator animals into housing developments. Damn sorry for the rant. Lol

Well...they're also living here. No one is tying their asses to the state. We didn't like living in Wisconsin with a summer that maybe lasts three months and we moved. If it's so bad that they feel that they need to badmouth the state...move. Move to New Mexico if they don't like winter and I'm sure the natives will tell them to not move there and see how they like it.....just sayin'

Or...maybe they're just Debby Downers and insist being negative.

Isn't there already a problem with salt water seeping into ground water due to the primary aquifer's over-use?
