I have been using Photoshop Elements for almost 20 years and it is still has more capability than I can see needing for my photography work, a hobbyist and casual exhibitor in local photography venues and contests. You buy it outright and use it till you need more than it can provide (which limit I have not reached) or until your OS doesn’t play well with it (or vice versa). Less than a year’s subscription to full Photoshop and good for many years.

I have been using Elements for over 20 years and find that it is more than sufficient for my needs. Have usually upgraded every two or three years. My latest version is 22 and tried to upgrade to 24 but found that my desktop OS wasn't able to use the newest version of ACR. My desktop is nine years old so now have to decide, new desktop or older version of Elements.

Wow! Both are ancient but if they work...

Yearly. This avoids interruptions if your CC is ever compromised.

Your choice should be dictated by your wallet.

have been using the PS only option for 9.95/mo since I was forced to make that decision and I don't use LR at all, since I find it not user-friendly to me... additionly I use Topaz programs as well... good luck

I finally need to purchase the Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom bundle. Is it better to do the monthly or, the yearly subscription? I assume purchasing from Adobe is best.

Any insight here before I make a purchase?

Thanks!

I have an annual Adobe subscription (from Adobe), that covers several of their products, which I pay monthly.

Long term Adobe customer here, for purchase, I would go directly to Adobe. Why pay a middle man.

As for monthly vs yearly, I think it was said above, first it depends on your wallet. If you committed to learning the software and starting with them then the yearly probably makes sense. If you think you want to try it for a while before committing, then got monthly.

the problem is.... a 1 year commitment
break away cost 50% of yearly cost
and your terminated at the end of the current month
best (I think) to pay for year and break away after a year if needed.

I disagree and here is the correct information

Photoshop is available only through a Creative Cloud subscription that you pay for either monthly or annually. You can subscribe to Photoshop alone or choose a plan with multiple apps.

From Adobe site:

Note: After 14 days, a cancellation fee (early termination fee) of 50% of the remaining balance of the contract applies. For example, if you cancel in the ninth month, you pay 50% of the fee for the three remaining months.

Why am I charged a fee if I cancel the plan?
Your purchase of a yearly subscription comes with a significant discount. Therefore, a cancellation fee applies if you cancel before the year ends

I AGREE ... I guess Adobe may also offer A YEARLY fee, but THEN you must adhere to their policy... which MANY FOLKS these days don't like to do... they essentially want their DISCOUNTS but not the policy...

Many more folks don’t mind and they even like the subscription service.

But if it’s a deal breaker for some then for them there are many other options for editing softwares.
