Thanks, Tom. That thing is a round bale cover. It serves two functions: first, it keeps the weather off the round bale, and second, it keeps horses and cattle from getting into the bale with their feet and spreading (and therefore wasting) the hay around. The livestock eat through the holes in the sides.
