I get 72-75 down, 12 up.
But we're not paying for blazing speed.
We have no problems with these values as everything is really quick or acceptable.
And that's through our encrypted router via WIFI.
We have no computers directly connected to the router.

Which internet provider do you have? Spectrum never gets 100Mbps upload.

Spectrum charges $90/month for Internet. I see that I'm temporarily getting a promotional discount of $45, so it will be going up soon.

It compares favorably. However, remember who is giving you that speed, and also that it is the speed available leaving/entering their server. What you get also depends on patches between their servers and those of your ISP, type and condition of lines coming to you, and type of modem/router you have, and distance of your computer from said modem/router. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Curious, how does distance from the router/modem come into play?
If radio waves (WIFI) and electrons (cable) travel at the speed of light, I wouldn't think 2 feet or 200 feet would make much of a difference in time delay.

Now the data through the router by WIFI being encrypted definitely would slow things down.

The speed of light is 983,568,960 feet per second....
or about 1.017e-9 seconds per foot. (.000000001 seconds)
So 200 feet would be 2.034e-7 seconds. (.0000002 seconds)

Are you getting that via WiFi or wired directly to modem or router... WiFi connection will vary based on several factors and may not be a true measure of the speed your ISP is making available to you.
