I think Apple stops support their Mac much earlier than Microsoft with Windows.

When I started my laptop last night, I saw this pop-up in the bottom right corner: "Installing Windows 11." It was out of the blue - nothing about updating or upgrading. I'll start it today and see what version of Windows I have on it.

Somewhere in the "Settings" menu there should be a check list that asks if you want Automatic updates or not.

Ah, yes, "...should be..." 😁

I've never looked for such a setting, but I've never had a computer install a new OS without my permission.

You can stop all updates easily but stopping only Windows 11 upgrade is more involved.

But any way is your laptop running Windows 11 now?

I don't think so, but I haven't used it since. Maybe I'll try it today.

If it tried to install when you running it last it should be running Windows 11 now unless the installation failed.

I clicked on something in the pop-up window. Maybe that canceled the installation. I don't use the laptop very often. "Real men use real computers." 😁

Ah, yes. Lotus. Microsoft steamrollered over many programs.
