I keep a small Oly camera on my desk to snap flowers as they burst open on my house plants. Yesterday I went to d/l those pics, which only should be about 5. But up came 520. All repeats of the 5 photos. Any ideas why this happened?

1. Which model of Olympus?

2. Did you download them all?

3. Do you still have the folder of those photos? Are the file names/numbers consecutive? Are they jpg?

Sounds like you're on continuous shutter release (the high speed option H).

Maybe ... but only if that little casual camera has 300 horsepower. An error like that needs 50 to 100 fps. I wonder if a closer inspection shows 100% identical framing, which is near impossible from a handheld burst. Perfectly identical framing would mean the camera is duplicating recorded images by about 100X. OTOH, if following your lead, maybe its in a video mode at 60fps ? Anywho it seems too weird. Often enuf a bit more info dispels the weirdness ... if the OP offers any more info.

I thought about the video possibility but wouldn't that be recorded as a video file and not individual frames?

Acoarst but weird problems sometime require weird thinking. We have almost no info, so anything goes.

I cant see this (so far) as some problem that needs solving so that an OP can proceed with their photography. I just see it as a curious occurrnce that might be kinda interesing but functionally unimportant.

Its no fun guessing too much based on one data point. If no useful info comes from the OP then its just another "I saw a five legged frog this morning". Yup that happens. Whatz for lunch ? (I hope its not frogs legs ... )

Format the card in camera (not on PC). try again, if issue is still present, try a different card (preferably new)

Yes I did delete all of those pics. I always format in camera. It is the red olympus tough camera. I just like to grab and shot sometimes, and this camera is perfect for that. It is not in video or continuous mode. Just thought it was weird. I will take a few more pics and see what happens.

I remember one time in 2006 or 7, my Nikon D200 showed a whole bunch 50+ blank photos when I tripped the shutter by accident with the lens cap on. I deleted the last one and the rest disappeared. It never happened again, and yes I had formatted in camera. I reformatted the card, and everything was normal after that.

IMNSHO, theres really nothing shocking about weird things in the digital realm *if* they only occur once. Acoarst if it persists then you have troubles. Do let us know how it goes !
