Garlic stems are great eating. I cook them on the BBQ in 3" pieces - taste great.

Very nice set of photos of Garlic Scapes Joe. I have grown garlic for years, and use the scapes in recipes. You want to cut the scapes and use them before the bulb on the end flowers. Coarse chop the scapes and add in parmigiano-reggiano cheese, sea salt & freshly ground black pepper, pine nuts, fresh basil, olive oil and make a nice pesto with them.

If you Google Garlic Scapes recipes you can find other ways to use them too.

I really appreciate the creativity of Photos that you take! Even though I don’t like the smell of garlic or the taste either, But but I like these photos! I live about 30 miles south of the β€œgarlic capital of the world β€œ, Gilroy, California. During harvesting time, you can really smell it when you drive through the area!!

Thanks, Vince68 and Valenta. I always thought they meant the garlic was going to mush. I didn’t know I could get a cooking lesson on UHH!
