Digital Artistry - Glimmer (Portuguese Water Dog)

A dear friend of ours breeds and shows Portuguese Water Dogs. Her dogs are the same bloodline as Obama's dog "BO".
This is my attempt at painting a portrait of "Glimmer" who is a bit over a year old and on her way to her championship in the ring.
I did not realize how challenging this would be as a black dog. Black animals have a variety of tones and hues and they are best applied in layers...upon layer, upon layer. I created 26 layers in this portrait which was far more than any that I have done thus far in digital painting.
Now that this one is done, I doubt that I will be painting a black cat in a dark alley anytime soon.

Looks like a work of art to me. I give it a 9 out of 10 due to the high light in the right eye is not the same as in the left eye.

You sure did well with all the different tones. Makes me want a dog, specifically Glimmer.
