In the past I convinced myself more is better, and my focus has always been to cover all the bases. That meant struggling with a heavy back pack for the tsa checks at the airport, and the weight of an additional Pelican case to accommodate all of the heavy lenses. Walking endlessly to find a taxi make matters worse.
This will be something new for me... A Nikon Zf mirror-less body, Z mount 28mm f/2.8, 40mm f2.0 and the versatile 24-120 f4 zoom lens.
Compact, simple, Image stabilized and a lot of new mirror-less features I will soon learn to appreciate when I travel.
I am convinced I can capture images at the same level as when I carried a hundred pounds of equipment years past. I will be sure to post a few results in the main topic forum soon... Just kidding
I also spelled Traveling with two LL's in the caption to see if I get scolded, that's always a fun way to add extra pages to the post!
Keeping my Canon gear but also looking forward to a new level of freedom when I travel and also when adding in serious work.

Welcome to the 21st century. Enjoy.
I only carry two things...
Nikon D850 with a 28~300
Google Pixel 7
Light weight, fits all my 'needs' since I seldom take any picture when traveling.
My carry now is a Sony RX100 VII and a DJI Mini 3 Pro. I limit prints to 13x19 so the small sensors get it done well.

It’s similar to how I travel. Canon 5Dsr and a 28-300 L
You will love the lighter load! I ditched all my beloved Nikon gear to go micro 4/3s eight (!) years ago and have never once regretted the move. I’ve found that with the easier lift, I use my gear much much more.
Canon R6II, 24-105, 14-35. Light, manageable, and excellent photos.

Travel = Canon G1x iii and G3x. My shoulders and arms appreciate it. My sling bag gathers dust and complains of loneliness.

Hmmm, going from Canon to Nikon
Eventually, later, after the honeymoon, you will discover the Sony RX100m7 for the ultimate level of freedom !

I agree with traveling light and it looks like you have a good set up. The two primes for low light/indoors and the 24-120mm for everything else. Happy shooting.
I agree, the Sony RX100 M7 is the way to go for traveling. I have that camera and love it. The light weight and compactness really make things effortless.
Agreed. I just did a trip where I brought my heavy DSLR and heavier zoom lens for the eclipse. That bag was truly a pain to carry around, never mind getting on and off of busses, etc. A few years back I did a week vacation in Florida with just my Canon G9X, and got some great pictures that are now on my walls. Yes, I missed the shot of that Egret way down by the other dock, but I got lots of good images without the boat anchor issue.

I kept my Canon FF system, but opted for a Fuji X-T4 for travel. APS-C was as small a sensor as I was willing to go in terms of low light/high ISO performance.
Not the "Ball and Chain" I thought this was going to be. I am now relieved...though less intrigued.

I added the 16-35 lens to the D850 with the 28-300. Glad I did.
