Does early SATA interface have drive size limit?

Maybe, maybe not. The test would be to try the card and drive in a later machine (if you have one, care enough, and there’s a driver available)

Here’s the question: why are you running an XP machine? To support legacy SW or HW?

I just want to keep old things working. I do service old machines. Sometimes the factory I used to work for need my help fixing their DOS and Win95 machine working. They pay me OK. But mainly I like to keep things working. If something breaks I junk it. But I hate to see things in perfect condition throwing away.
I can try the card on another machine but at this point I am quite sure that it's the card limitation.
