U.S. Navy '68-'72 Aviation Ordnance. Attached to an A-4 squadron based in Lemoore, Ca. Made 3 combat cruises off the coast of Vietnam. Received my Army induction notice when I was in Navy boot camp. Left the Navy as an E-5. Many days I wished I had stayed in for 20 or 30 years.

Funny thing, when I was in, all I could think of is, "How soon can I get out?" After going through what I went through in civilian life, I think, "why didn't I stay in?"

Oh yes, I wish I would have stayed in for 20 years too, I could have retired at 37 years old. I think I would have had I joined the Air Force or maybe the Navy.

No, I got to Germany at the 21st Replacement BN in Frankfurt and they changed my MOS from 13B Artillery to 16B Nike. The AIT for Nike was at Ft. Bliss, Texas if I remember right.

Sometimes I think the same thing but who knows how it would have all turned out if we stayed in. Life has been good since discharge...college (paid for by GI Bill), wife, two kids, three grandchildren. Life is good. Hope it has been for you too.
