You make a good point about getting software on a disk, probably not going to happen. However, I have many times now downloaded an installation file on my chromebook, then virus checked, etc, and then moved it to my offline photo editing computer via thumbdrive. Hopefully, I can again download the installation file for whatever software I choose to download. If it's only a direct install, I guess I'm out of luck.

If your computer has a disk burner you can make your own for storage - I do.

Like dead bolt locks on French doors!!

Our secondary French door has deadbolts at the top and bottom of the door.
The primary door deadbolt is just like any other door.
No matter what, if they want to get in, they will.......

He isn’t putting watermarks on the prints he’s selling. He wants to watermark the digital images to protect them from piracy.

I will ad that I don’t understand having an editing machine that’s offline.

I don't need to be on-line to edit.......
Why should I, my editors are stand-alone.

I reread the OP, and I don't see where he said that. Since he referred to selling prints, I assumed he wanted them watermarked.

My editors are constantly updated with new versions. Not possible if not connected, plus any work I want to post or send digitally would be a big hassle without being online.

He didn’t have to say it. Logically it’s what makes sense. And why would he want an editor to add watermarks to a print? Editors only work on digital images.

If you’re using photoshop have you tried changing the blending mode on the text. There maybe some mode there that blends the text so that it’s not as obvious.

Very true! I am primarily wanting to sign my prints without it being obtrusive. I don't post any full resolution photo files on line that I consider more than family snapshots, etc. and I keep nothing on the cloud for just the reasons you brought up. If I post a photo here it's because I'm willing to share it and even then it probably wouldn't be full resolution and a watermark would require a bit more effort if someone did want to use it for profit, etc.

The watermark would be added to the digital image before it's printed. Why is that hard to understand?

Do you use Lightroom Classic? It does watermarks in any color and it has a slider for transparency. You can also chose font, size and position.
#1 opacity 100%
#2 opacity 25%

I use mostly GIMP and darktable. I never liked the way Lightroom wants to organize your files for you. I guess I have my own way of doing things and I'm not about to change now. At 70 and partially disabled, I'm not going to last in this hobby a whole lot longer anyway.

I'm not sure that you're going to find any software/program that's going to support Windows 7. I don't use Windows but does MS even support that version?

Maybe he meant image? Maybe he meant a signature?
Care to make other guesses based on your additional thoughts?
Logically? Seems to have been your deduction.
