My wife has been doing craft shows for a couple seasons now and dragging me along mainly as a pack mule. Anyway, I recently started taking some of my framed photographic prints at 8X12 and 12x18 to sell as well. I've actually done pretty well and have decided that maybe I should start watermarking some of my more popular images. I want something mostly translucent and very unobtrusive, and although I can add text to my photos in several of the editing packages that I regularly use, none of them seem to have a transparent color selection or watermark menu. I have found a goodly number of mainly Android apps that do watermarks and could use them on my Chromebook, but most of them seem to want me to send the photos to their website or store them on the cloud, which I do not want to do. My Windows 7 based, photo editing computer has been off the internet for years now and I have no intention of putting it back on, but would like to find software to do watermarks that would still run on this machine and without needing access to the internet. Does anyone know of a stand alone watermarking program that will still run on Windows 7? I would greatly appreciate your input on this if you know of any options!

I kind of doubt that anyone sends programs on disks any more. It's SO MUCH cheaper to download them on the internet.

You make a good point about getting software on a disk, probably not going to happen. However, I have many times now downloaded an installation file on my chromebook, then virus checked, etc, and then moved it to my offline photo editing computer via thumbdrive. Hopefully, I can again download the installation file for whatever software I choose to download. If it's only a direct install, I guess I'm out of luck.

You do know that the watermarks can be removed in PS

About half of what separates a successful photographer from their peers is an ability to remove the watermark.

Some like to use them as a deterrent for mostly honest people.

I gave up on watermarks years ago & just use “DigiMarc”..www.digimarc.com. Encrypted digital signature. Automatically authenticates true author, date, location etc

But that won't carry over to a print.

Rather than watermarks just don’t post full resolution photos online. It’s good practice to resize your photos for online display anyway. It’s not gonna display any higher than the resolution of your monitor.

Speaking of resizing your online images ....

Recommended resizing parameters for digital images

He's selling prints. I'd like to see you remove a watermark from a print with PS.

Do you use Lightroom Classic? It does watermarks in any color and it has a slider for transparency. You can also chose font, size and position.
#1 opacity 100%
#2 opacity 25%
