It must have changed (lifted?) the spirits of everyone living there. An exciting time.

I don't know how people live in a dry climate like this. I spent a short time in the southwest US and I did not enjoy it. But I guess you bloom where you're planted, as the saying goes. I would enjoy a cool, wet climate as in the British Isles for instance. I enjoy rain and I hate heat.

Thank you andesbill. Yes, a good rain and the creeks and rivers flowing always brings some excitement.

Thanks Caribou, I understand where you are coming from. Long hot dry spells during summer in Central Australia can be a bit trying at times but since we have lived here for over 51 years we have learnt to adapt.

When you live in an arid or semi arid zone where rain falls are months or sometimes years apart it is always a pleasure when the rain finally arrives. It is even more exciting if enough rain falls to cause the normally dry creeks and rivers to flow as occurred in Central Australia during the last week of March 2024. Alice Springs airport recorded over 180 mm (7 inches) of rain over seven days which is almost 80% of the annual average.

Love it, TD!
