The original quote was $322 and the final offer was $294, so I took it. Quote was made 3/10 and I got the final offer yesterday, so pretty good service overall. Not much of a cost recovery, but better than letting them decay and it gives me some money toward the next lens or whatever. Now, for the rest of the unused collection.

I recently upgraded from Nikon D850 to Z8. I obtained a quote from KEH via Zoom call with them of around $3800 for ALL of my old camera stuff including camera and lenses. When the camera gear finally arrived at KEH, they wrote back upping the quote to $4,000. I said YES and then I had an option for the money. They send a check via mail or instantaneous via PayPal. I wrote back checking off the PalPal box and later that day, the money was in my PayPal account. So, my experience was very positive. BTW, they pay the postage for the package going to them and I want to tell you, that puppy was HEAVY, i.e. I had so much gear in the box. I had to pay for the packing and box at FedExpress which I think was about $38. Again, a positive experience from both KEH and FedEx.

Thank you for sharing this with us. Your post and the responses you're getting may come in handy as soon as I can decide what I am willing to part with.

I went through the same nonsense this week with KEH. Got a quote of $1496 for a camera and a couple of lenses. so I sent them in. I just heard from them yesterday, 3/26, 16 days later, with a new quote of $1346 which got me so aggrevated that I called them. I told them that their offer of $1496 was fair and the the new $1346 quote was unacceptable because my equipment was pristine. I said If you can't do better, send it back at your expense. The agent said they would give it a second look and get back to me by end of day. The new quote is $1471, so I accepted. The firs go-round was a dance to see how cheap they could get my stuff for. It paid to complain to get them to come around and be fair about the transaction.
I went through the same nonsense this week with KE... (show quote)

I just sold lenses, a teleconverter and an FTZ adapter to KEH. The initial quote was $2000. (an almost new 14-24 Z mount 2.8 lens). The final quote was 1666. I called and they reviewed the items and told me that two of my lenses had mold (one was a 24-200 Z mount, rarely used). I took the offer, but am reluctant to send any other lenses to them for a quote.

Last year at my local photo store, there was a appraiser/buyer (local, not national) so I brought in some older gear. The camera body quote of $750 was inline with online quotes, but I wanted to think about it. I came back about a hour later and a different appraiser quoted a price $100 less. I told them about the previous higher offer and they raised the quote to the previous offer which I accepted.

Nice to know that one can negotiate with the national firms.

I've always had good luck using Roberts Camera (aka) usedphotopro.com) - mostly for purchases. They are genuinely nice people to deal with.

I had my first and so far only dealing with KEH a few months ago. Got an online quote for a Canon RF 50mm f/1.2 L and a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro. Both were barely used and had the original boxes, etc. They quoted higher than B&H or Adorama, so, they sent me a shipping label, FedEx if I remember right, and I sent them the lenses. Within a day or two of receiving the lenses KEH sent me a notice that my check, for the full amount of the quote, was in the mail. Quick service, no hassle.
I had sold to B&H on occasion in the past. Also quick with no hassle but KEH offered better prices.

A piece of gear sitting on a shelf collecting dust has no value until there is a hassle free buyer.

Got my check today, so that was about 21 days from having the idea to getting paid. Now that I know the how of it, it should be even less time if I do another one. Maybe I'll try PayPal to speed it up?
