Oystercatchers on Long Island, NY

There were several pairs of Oystercatchers at the beach, often walking together with some mating going on. The town is preparing the sand for the nesting birds, removing the grass from the beach area. There are sand dunes with lots of grass. The town will soon rope off the nesting areas.
