Using the Delkin CFast Multi-Reader or Olympus OM-E-M10 M3
Not much of a question (as usual)
Most suggest best practice is to use card reader to download into computer. Do NOT use the computer to reformat the card. Do that in camera later.

I have always just downloaded photos with a cable from the camera. It just seems easier than removing and replacing the cards every time I shoot. I've never had any problems doing it that way.

I'd have to dig out the cable.
Easier to pull the card for me.
Much easier. And probably faster.

I'd have to dig out the reader, except I don't have one. I keep the cable attached to the computer, so I just plug it in. How could it be faster?

For me.......
I have a reader in the computer.
If I have the camera, 1 second to extract the card.
If I had the cable hanging on the desktop, when I travel I'd have to unplug and pack it in the camera bag....
Then I'd have to get it out and plug it back into the computer, or leave it laying next to the computer.
The card is faster and easier,
for me.
But if you like your cable, keep it happy.

I have been doing the same thing for 8 years. No issues. My thoughts are use the cable until or if it breaks. Then the camera is fine and I can start removing the card to download pics after the USB stops working. I think removing the card every time risks more damage to the camera. I use my way every one else use their way and the world will be a better place
The card reader , then reformat card in camera .

If you like.
I haven't reformatted a memory card in 15+ years.
(I don't re-format my HDs, SSDs, or USB fobs either.)
Always remove card and upload into the computer. Reformat the card only in the camera. These are best practices.
I fried my Olympus camera motherboard with a direct hookup.
Now i'm looking 4 batteries 4 my Canon EOS R-100 that takes LP-E17s?

Did you search the battery model number on Amazon or B&H?

Download the same folder both ways and time it... Use whichever is faster! If they're the same speed, pick for convenience.
Remember to check what you download and back it up — before reformatting the card in the camera.
