Hello everyone, I have an old Yashica FX-2 35mm film camera that still works but needs servicing (cleaning, lube, etc...). Would anyone happen to know of a facility that still works on these old film cameras? I know that the service and or repairs will cost way more than the camera's value; however, this was my first film camera and of course it has some sentimental value. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have used Mark Hama to service several Yashica rangefinder and TLR cameras with excellent results. He is sometimes pretty slow in getting the service done, which may be due to his searching for or fabricating parts. It’s been awhile since I have used his services so Google him and give him a call or email him to see if he is still active. There is also Camera Service Pro in Atlanta ( https://www.cameraservicepro.com/) that services Yashica film cameras.

I had a very unpleasant transaction with this firm, long & tedious. I ‘m glad yours went better than mine.

I asked the question about CLA on the other forum where there are a bunch of members who do repair work. They all agree that a decent CLA must cost at least $200.

IIRC, the shutter is electronicaly timed. What symptoms suggest need of CLA ? Theres no reason for CLA if theres no problems.

Doesn't the L for Lubrication make any difference? Lubrication does dry out in older mechanical things and should be relubricated properly shouldn't it?

It would benefit from CLA but to do that it's just too much work. I have doubt if someone do it cheap because if they don't do it at all how do you know?

Exactly. But unless I am mistaken the OP wants it done.

Absolutely, I want it done no matter the cost. This old camera was our first film camera that we purchased our first year of marriage in 1978, so that tells you how old and how long we have had this special camera. Also, I just got off the phone with Mark Hama who answered the phone to my surprise at this hour. My Yashica will be in the mail first thing Monday morning.

Yes he is. He has worked on 6 Electro 35 models, a YashicaMat, Yashica D and A, Yashica 124G, several Lynx rangefinder models and a Yashica Mimy for me, and a few non-Yashica cameras.
