I read that the scammers deliberately write this way so that only the ones whose brains are already toast will answer. Those they can work with, and remove their “spare” change.

What always gets me is all you have to do is look at their email addresses and know that it's dead giveaway that it's is spam email.

Allister Borthwick IS the CFO of Bank of America. I think I'll call him and have him send the money to me......... not a direct transfer, I want a certified check delivered to me.

“and the ATM attached to your account would be sent to you.”

Do you realize how hard it will be to get that in your house?! Those things are heavy!

Give the faker credit for doing some homework. He got the corporate headquarters address and name of the CFO correct. But the year of the bank's founding is wrong. And he made some grammatical errors in the text along with the mistake of writing the word "millions" following the numerical expression of the total value.

They are getting smarter, just not smart enough!

Not to mention (but I will) very poor punctuation.

There is a great website out there at www.419eater.com. It's a worldwide group of people who make it their business to goof with and mislead these scammers. 419 is the Nigerian penal code for fraud; "eater" is a scammer term where they "eat" your money. 419eater.com is all volunteer, and some of the people involved are truly talented. They will send your scammer on a long road trip (hundreds of miles) to pick up money that was never sent, despite an official looking receipt. It wastes a lot of the scammers time and funds.

Hours of amusement. Most of these scammers are very uneducated or ill informed - many believe the US FBI is the most powerful law enforcement agency in the world, and it will come after them in Africa.

One clue I have noticed in scams is they usually use the work "kindly." There it is.
