Upgrade to Nikon D3400 camera

A D7500 would be an excellent choice. Or a D500 if you can get your hands on one.

Consider the D7200. I like the D500 for wildlife.

I have 4 of the 5000 series, 5100, 5200, 5300 and 5600. All have the fully articulated screen (previously referred to as the flippy screen) I like all of these bodies and find the cameras do what I need. I use your plan by permanently mounting the lenses to the camera and not having to change a lens. If I buy something new then I change it at home. I use a 16-80mm Nikon lens, the 200-500mm Nikon lens, the 55mm micro lens and the 70-300mm.
Sometimes I change out for a 50mm lens, but the short telephoto 16-80 gives me the range without having to change lenses. I have some other lenses that I don't use very much. I also have some old lenses that require manual everything. I'm too lazy to spend the time playing with them.
At 75, I have to lift weights to have the strength to lift up the 200-50mm, but I really like it a lot. I can stand up in my SUV and use the open roof to shoot photos too. I have things I can put on the roof to give me stability. It also reduces the chance of being eaten or trampled in National Parks. Good luck in your search.

Hi JC, I recommend the Best Nikon DX DSLR the D500 it's fully compatible With your Lenses. I have had a D500 for 4yrs it's a great well built solid camera. Plus all the controls are right were they need to be. The menus give you so many options. You can even make your own custom menu for the features you rely on most. Plus it has 25 mega pixels, 153 AF points for focus
Plus Nikon's excellent Xspeed 5 processor. You can find them Refurbished like new for great prices. And if you want to add lenses there are plenty excellent used ones available. My D500 in now my 2nd body. I purchased A D850 FX body and several lenses last year because since I started a Part Time professional photography business and I needed the Resolution of 47mp for weddings, Portraits and real estate work. Hope this helps with your decision.

D500 at 20 megapixels is a superb DX camera. It will perform rings around the other Nikon DX DSLRs! I am not giving up on my D500s, D750, or D850s. They’re paid for, the lenses are paid for, and mirrorless cameras, while perhaps minutely marginally better, aren’t so much better as to make me want to move! Long live the DSLR!
