Downloaded latest LRC version and have nothing but problems since. Evey function slowed to a crawl. LRC freezes often requiring a computer shut down. Frequent message " Lightroom not responding" and freezes. anyone else having similar problems?

Did you consider rolling back to the prior update?

Did you consider opening a technical support chat with Adobe technical support, a benefit of your subscription?

What version is "latest?" 13.2? Also, what version of ACR - 16.2?

By the way, I got an email from Victoria Bampton (the "Lightroom Queen" this morning, which said in part:

"Feedback from Lightroom Classic 13.2, Lightroom 7.2, and Mobile 9.2, released in February
We recommended adopting these releases immediately, as they were largely bug fixes. We're pleased to say they seem to have been pretty issue-free, which is great news!

Lightroom Classic
It's great to see some of the smaller enhancement requests finally getting attention in Classic 13.2, including additional Sort Order, Filter, and Smart Collection options.

We also noted that improvements were made to memory usage for Apple Silicon users, and our members have given us great feedback about how effective these have been. 16GB of RAM remains a sensible minimum when purchasing a new computer.

These improvements illustrate that it is worth logging issues like this with Adobe so they can be investigated, even if it takes a while to see progress. As a reminder, we explain just how to do this in our post How do I send a bug report or feature request to Adobe? https://lightroomqueen.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=193b53c1a54b97b57a83a04ff&id=f0f0429dd3&e=f6504c4984

Tried a chat -one hour with no result. considered rollback, but last time I did that, I lost many photos.

Your images are on disk, outside the LR catalog. You might have lost edits, but not the original files, unless something was done other than changing the software and using a different LRCAT. The version 'fall-back' options exists specifically for this unexpected situation.

The Lightroom Queen is the bomb and pretty much free in case you are too cheap to buy one of her encyclopedic ebooks. I wish there was a counterpart for Photoshop. “The Photoshop King”? Sounds sexiest? I guess that kills the idea.

What system are you running it on? How old is your system? How much installed RAM is available? I would have this information available and contact Adobe to debug the problem. That version of LRC is not inherently faulty by my experience.

Exactly. Having a backup strategy is vital. The three rules of saving data? Backup, backup and backup.

I downloaded the latest versions (including 13.2 of LRC) for all my subscription products and I have seen no change in speed or operation whatsoever. Works just fine. May be your download got corrupted or your system is no longer adequate.

I haven’t had any issues with it. That said, I did have to replace my 2014 laptop last August because it had slowed to a glacial pace. I made the switch after being advised to do so by a friend who is head of cyber security at a major pharma firm.

When this happened to me about 5 months ago, I was often getting that message “ Lightroom not responding.” Turns out my laptop was in cardiac arrest … ready to crash. I had it “refurbished” and added a solid stage drive. I elected to do this instead of purchasing a new laptop. Immediately it was running “lightning fast”. I haven’t had any problem with updates. Best….
