Sketch with Pen and Wash of Tint

Okay, my attempt at the girl in color was pretty sad. At times it's best to step back and revisit it later as it helps with evaluation. Sorry about that one.

This is a sketch using a pen tool with a bit of color and a few splashes of tint. Lines are fast and loose which works better for me when sketching.

It's my third attempt and when I reach 1,000, they hopefully will get better. Tomorrow's attempt will be a landscape so there will be no 'deer in the headlights' look.

Very well done. The cross-hatching in the shadow areas is a nice touch. The wistful hairlines are hair-like and free-flowing. The blue eyes and not harsh red lips speak to each other, in harmony.

Stop being humble... you are doing great... how would you have improved this one?

Definite improvement. Consider a Wacom tablet for this type of work.

Seven people commented on your previous work after your one reply to Curmudgeon. Many of us enjoyed the result as unique, creative and eye-catching, so I hope you aren't beating yourself up too badly

I love this sketch. The tilt of her head, long hair, huge and intensely focused blue eyes, and provocative red lips, result in an amazing work of art!

I think it's fantastic.
I reckon improvements can always be made but to me this one is spot on perfect.
I like everything about it. The subject, the colors, the presentation. All done to perfection I'd say.

Personally, I think both portraits are terriffic! Do you ever fiddle with the drawing tool? Perhaps some of those random scribbles might give you enough confidence to draw what you want to draw. Keep practicing...you're doing great!!!

If it were mine, I'd be darn proud and probably consider myself a de Vinci! I agree with Linda. There's lots to like about this drawing.
