As for me I have no problem with people editing their photographs to suit their particular vision or need. It is people who do so but do not inform the recipient or public that the photo has been edited. In some instances, it may be necessary to describe the edits made. In the future I can see photography contests to select the best use of AI for the final image.

Here's what the feral British press has to say: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13182833/Palace-refuses-release-original-Kate-Mothers-Day-photo.html

I can see a few of the article's 16 points, while others seem fanciful. But, look at their hands - AI has a lot of problems with hands and fingers. Some times there's even extra arms or fingers. Louis' right hand seems a possible hint at AI use. Who knows what it means, if anything.

Didn't she read the Reuters' guidelines about manipulating photos? Jeez, that's been in place since 2015 and the issue has been up wandering around as a zombie thread currently on the UHH mustard pages. Do we have a member 'QueenK' lurking in the community?

I think most people have missed the point that in journalism there is to be no photoshopping. Do it all you want for yourself, etc. but not if it is to be published in newspapers etc. We want that level of integrity.

Oh yeah, I was looking at photos of hot Asian chicks on Facebook but I think I’ll start looking in more traditional pick up spots like Goodwill, a tavern, the waiting room at Family Services or the city jail. Far too many of those Asian ladies have three legs, five hands on two people or fingers that look like the ends of Cuban cigars.

It was a family photo with some minor (Facebook quality) editing mistakes. Why all the hoopla?

I thought it was pretty nice that she apparently enjoys photography. It is a hobby that can appeal to anyone, whatever their station in life. I also seriously suspect that she did not do it to be devious.

Alas, there's been a refusal to show the original(s) that might better explain what was attempted ....

She leaves me also where I am. I am no photojournalist either.

So she wanted to do it herself - and why not? The prob has arisen because "the staff" submitted the pic to the media.
