Abe's is a well know scam outfit. Most of use know that, and CHG_CANON is "joking". He's been warned before that if he keeps touting Abe's that someone will take him seriously.
Yeah he lives in Chicago how would he know Abe's of Maine in New Jersey?
Take the subway to 34th street and go to B&H on 34th and 9th. Anything to do with photography that you could ever want will be in that store, along with very helpful staff.

There are a ton of camera stores in Brooklyn, and most all are places to avoid. For the details, the reviews, and pictures of the storefronts see:
http://www.donwiss.com/pictures/BrooklynStores/The pictures alone would be enough to scare anyone considering Brooklyn.
This produced the best laugh of the morning. Probably repeats dozens of times across the country. Since local store closed a few years ago I only deal with Adorama or B&H Photo online partly because stuff shows up in a day or two.

Stick with B&H. I've been dealing with them for many years and have never been disappointed.

I would avoid these "Brooklyn" operations, although I have to admit I had a good experience last year with Abes of Maine. I have used beachcamera.com with success. But these days, bhphotovideo and adorama are good, fast, and transparent. Amazon has advantages if you are prime, because delivery is more predictable (but no more predictable than bhphotovideo.com which gives good info on arrival. Be careful about backordering. Some popular cameras are not as available as they seem to be. B&H recently was very good in this realm with me in trying to order a fujifilm x100VI, which is the hottest travel camera just out. They gave honest info on availability and I was able to cancel with ease.

Thanks for the heads up.......stay far, far away. B&H Adorama... Looking for my first point and shoot pocket camera. I'll check out Abe's for a G9 X mark ii
Paul was being sarcastic when he mentioned Abe's. Not cool of him.

I have done business with tri-state from Brooklyn just recently. I purchased a canon r100 camera and few days after I received it I returned it with no problem at all. The reason was I found out the r50 had better features from the r100, the r50 was purchased from Amazon. Tri-State in Brooklyn has been in business since 2002 and the sales person I communicated was very gracious and helpful. I am not associated with their establishment, just wanted to clear any confusion.
I'd say a simple review of the TriState site seems to indicate they're a grey market seller, just like our low-cost friends at Abe's. They have a 'brand new' Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM prime lens listed at $1,119.99. We know B&H is an authorized Canon USA dealer, where the 'same' new lens is listed at $1,599.00. TriState has all the same parts / accessories listed as 'in the box', as well as offering free shipping. Our lowest-cost friends at Abe's has the lens even cheaper at $1,089, where the only indication of a problem is their reference: Brand New Factory Fresh Import Model.
So, if you want to gamble on a lower / lowest cost with no warranty support from Canon (or Nikon, Sony, etc), these grey market sellers are there to take your money. Canon USA has a list of their Authorized Dealers. Neither TriState nor Abe's can be found on this list.

Tri-State has one advantage over some of the other shady side dealers if you're very, very careful. They sell on eBay. Buy from them only via eBay and pay with PayPal, then grab the after-market warranty if it's much of a purchase. Also, make sure you've read the entire listing. The same goes for 6th Avenue on Amazon. Make sure you give the product a good shakedown as soon as you receive it and start the return process immediately if there's any problem. Or, as everybody else said, just avoid them. I would add a few others to the list of reliable... MPB, Roberts/used photo pros, and KEH for used equipment.
You're in NY city so I guess you know how Tristate Camera store front looks like.

Why patronize “shady” dealers at all? More than a few reputable dealerships available.
