Yes, it sure is.

I retired just three weeks ago. I had planned and paid for this trip while I was still working, but it really was a bucket list item. I will be fulfilling my final destination early next year as I spend a month touring New Zealand and Australia. At trip's end I will have visited six of the seven continents.

Life is good.

Nice Photo - What a view! Enjoy yourself Fred. Thanks for sharing.

Love the shot. I was there 15 years ago and took an amazing amount of pictures. Magical place.

I would like to see some of your photos just to compare what improvements have been made in the last 15 years. I see that a couple of buildings now have a thatched roof. Those didn't exist a few years ago. And a lot of walls have been rebuilt. I did see some photos taken decades ago when the place was found. Wow! What a difference. What a mess it was then.

Fantastic shot, what I've never noticed or been able to see in other photos is the buildings on the tops of the surrounding mountain tops....must of been a hell of a hike to visit your neighbor....LOL

I was looking on my phone last night. I didn't quite understand your comment. I knew there were buildings and roads out the ridge behind where he was standing, and I thought maybe that is what you were talking about. Today I'm on the computer. I downloaded the image, zoomed in, and was scanning the horizon. HOLEY CRAP! This is the first time i have seen the buildings up behind the thatched roof, and oh my there are buildings and terraces on top of the pinnacle! This photo just keeps giving and giving. I can't wait to see the other photos he has taken.

And maybe one you've had on your list, too. Given the active itinerary and travel arrangements, I decided to go smartphone-only. I have an Apple iPhone 14 Pro and sometimes enhance it with a XenvoPro wide-angle/macro lens. Posted also in the smartphone subforum.

This is Machu Picchu. My wife and I wanted to vacation there when we married in 1973. She got pregnant and the doctor forbade her from travel that distance and altitude. We never made it. But, here I am, fifty years later, now solo, fulfilling a dream.

SOOC, as this was taken only earlier today, and I'm now resting up in my hotel room.

Reinforces why I do not use smart phones .....but, thanks for sharing !

Kind of a nasty comment, there Imagemaster. Smartphones are fine for people who just want to capture their travels for the memories, not to blow up and show in juried galleries or shows. This is a lovely image, one Fred will cherish as the trip was on his bucket list.

Very nice!! Cell phones can do well today, and without the weight. Great for travel.

I'm on another trip now, with eleven others, and only one of them is carrying a DSLR (a Sony, but I don't know which model). Everyone else is using their phones. Of course, none of them has confessed to being a professional photographer, so their phones are serving them well.

As is mine. A very rainy day today in Wellington, New Zealand, and I don't have to worry about my lens getting spotted, fogged or water seeping into the camera body as I trek around (I'll post some photos when I've had a chance to offload them to my computer).
