The Columbus Monument is a 60 m (197 ft) tall monument to Christopher Columbus at the lower end of La Rambla. It was constructed for the Exposition Universal de Barcelona (1888) in honor of Columbus’ first voyage to the Americas. The monument serves as a reminder that Christopher Columbus reported to Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand V in Barcelona after his first trip to the new continent.
The next morning, we had an excellent early breakfast at the hotel restaurant and departed the hotel around 9AM on a quiet Saturday morning for a tour of Barcelona. It was an excellent tour that stopped at two places before departing for our ship in Tarragona: Parc de la Ciutadella and Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya. These will be the subjects of the next two posts.
The last photo in this post is of a bullring in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was the last bullfighting arena in commercial operation in Catalonia.
You do a nice tour, Dennis.

Thanks Mike! I enjoy both the planning and doing. With cruising, most of the planning involves deciding which excursions to book. However, there was a lot more planning involved in our 2023 trip, as it was a month-long drive around Italy totally on our own. I'll post photos from that trip when I finish this one.
Great set again Dennis. Makes me want to re-book our trio there!

Thanks Mark; it's a great city that we would like to go back to and include Marbella that we booked with it for 2020 that got cancelled by COVID.
Thanks for the wonderful tour and images Dennis.
