At the risk of over stating what already has been said, I have bought three lenses from ebay, two of which were Canon L, and have been satisfied each time. They work perfectly, were clean and the glass was perfect. It helps to ask sellers questions.

I have purchased cameras and accessories off of Ebay and have never had a problem. I always check the Seller's feedback before I make a move

I bought a Canon 24-128 4.0 L, and 70-200 2.8 L from ebay, both (gulp) used. They were both in excellent condition, and I almost exclusively use one or the other. In fact, i need to list my EF lenses these replaced. Now I'm on the hunt for a 1.4x extender....
It was a good experience, saved $$. Doubt I could have afforded either new.

I bought a Kenko Pro 300 on ebay recently for 160.00. Most camera stores sell them around 269.00. Rec. free shipping and no tax. Ad stated in excellent cond., well, when I received it -- I don't think it ever was out of the box! Even still had the moisture packet in it and the box didn't have the wrinkles in the lid crease that happens when a box is opened much. Here is a shot I made with it mounted on a Nikon 70-200 VRI, hand held. I believe this unit is the best 1.4 on the market. Careful though, Kenko has two 1.4's one is a 6 element unit that is not bad for around 100.00, but go for the PRO 300 -- a 7 element model that works really well.

I recently bought a Kenko 1.4 PRO 300 for 160.00. Camera stores sell them from around 269.00 to 299.00. Seller listed it in excellent cond. Well, it came in a box that looked like it had never been opened! Still in plastic bag and the moisture packet was still in the box. I don't think it had ever been used! Go for the PRO 300. Kenko makes two versions of the 1.4 -- one sells for around 100.00 to 150.00, has 6 elements. The PRO 300 has 7 elements and is very sharp. I'm sending a shot I took just to play around with it the day I received it. The shot is straight out of the camera and was taken with a Nikon 70-200 2.8 VRI, hand held at the 200 setting (equiv. to 280). Not bad for a hand held shot.

Almost all my gear I've gotten off EBay. My 7D and 24-105L I got from a DC gear leasing agency that renews his stock every three to four months. The camera had three shutter counts on it and lens was in it's original packaging with a build date only four months prior.

I've got over 425 transactions on eBay (mostly all buying & many of them camera gear) Have had a few lemons, but eBay stepped up & took care of them...You have to know your gear when buying as many people state a lens will work with multiple camera when in actuality it won't. I have sent emails to sellers when I see mis-labeled auctions to inform them of their errors. There are lots of items from estate sales & the sellers may not be savvy, photographically speaking. Ask questions if you are not sure... All in all a great resource (although the bargains are not as abundant as they used to be)

I am looking for a decent f/2.8, f/1.8 or f/1.4 portrait lens for my Canon T3i/600D
If you come across one, please pass me the information.
