It's not photography so I think the admin will move it.........
This is a photography section. Does your receiver take digital images? Then be gone with you, be banished to the proper section.

What is wrong with you guys ? Are you simply not reading or just basically thick ?
This comes up time and time again and you still simply can't seem to grasp the concept.
This query was posted in "Chit-Chat (non-photography talk)" so is a perfectly acceptable subject.
Leaving aside the fact that the OP would probably get better results elsewhere (although there are some good answers here anyway) I do wish some of you would get on the right page and stop wasting my time having to read extra BS.

This thread wasn't posted in the "General Chit Chat" section when we made our posts. I said admin will probably move it and he did. It was moved here afterward. So stop calling people BS without knowing the whole story.

People make mistakes in where they post something. There is no need for vitriol. Just point out the error and move on.

Oops. Sorry, When I spotted it, it had already been relocated.

That's like asking if I can read minds. It is not so much a case of 'not understanding' but more a case of no information gets posted to allow me to understand. So my post still stands but maybe I targeted too many people as being included in the ignorant. I only rarely read General Photography so if a post gets shifted it will get missed unless I/you happen to read it in that short gap of time while it was still there.
Maybe the admin should add a comment that this was a shifted post. No need for this in Attic posts.

This is a non-photography issue section, so I think it is in the proper section.

But you don't care that after I told him that the admin would move his thread I also told him to
1. Download the manual and service manual so perhaps he could figure it out himself.
2. Refer him to a guy I know that is very good with those vintage receiver.
3. Refer him to a forum where a lot of people with electronics knowledge and audio equipment frequent.

So calling people BS for that is more rude than reminding someone that he/she posting in the wrong section.

On my old 1970s Kenwood receiver my granddaughters sometimes push the Tape Monitor Source button in and you can still hear another source but I have to crank the volume way up. Now that I'm on to them I always check that and the volume before turning the stereo on.

To your first of your paragraph I said "Leaving aside the fact that the OP would probably get better results elsewhere (although there are some good answers here anyway)"
To your 2nd paragraph I have not said anything about posting in the wrong section. I did however make some comment about people calling out the usage of Chit-Chat.

It was originally posted in General Photography, and Admin must have moved it to Chit Chat. Happens all the time. What don't you understand about that?

When the Admin changes stuff like that he should add a comment that HE/SHE moved it to a more appropriate section. But either way it ended up in the right section. I object to those who don't read what Chit-Chat is about (apologies to those two who HAPPENED to know it had originally been posted in the wrong section).

Whenever I see someone comment a post is in the wrong section, and it is in the correct section, I assume it was moved there from the wrong section by Admin.

This is the problem with assumptions. As far as I can tell most people actually do post to the correct section (not all, as has happened here, but most). I have no idea what the percentage is but SUSPECT probably 80-90%. And then we get the bleating that it IS incorrect and/or shouldn't even be there from those whose comprehension is limited and don't know what Chit-Chat etc really means. As has happened here a few DID KNOW it had been shifted by the Admin but I didn't. Not that I was complaining about the section but those complaining about the section. Gets very convoluted.

You best bet would be to get it touch with Sony Electronic Services. They will help you with any problem wmyou are having with anything electronics like cameras, stereos, phones, lenses, tv's, computers and anything else electronic made by Sony.

Like with old cameras, they are unlikely to have parts available for a 50 year old receiver, and I doubt that anyone in their service center has ever seen one. You can sell it to someone with the skill to troubleshoot it or for parts, but I'll bet it's heavy. Shipping will cost more money than it's worth. See if you can sell it locally if that's where you're going with this.
