Nikon body for Sigma lens

We have a Nikon D7200 with a Sigma 100-400 lens that my wife uses for wildlife. particularly birds. It is a nice lens but has a fair bit of trouble focusing and the body does not seem to have the ability to choose single point center focusing. She wants autofocus, not manual. The minimum seems to be 11 points and we would like to choose just 1. Is there a Nikon APS-C body that will let us do center point only focusing?

I have several Nikons they all can be set to center point focusing. just get to the manual of "focus area" of your D7200 to choose where you want to. Good Luck!

I think all Nikon AF SLR or DSLR can be set to center point focusing. For some it's the only option.

I included a link to the manual. Page 83 You need to hold the button on the front down while scrolling with the rear command dial. But first go into the menu & make sure the box for single point menu system is checked. If your wife wants to try only single point focus for a while, deselect all the others but remember to go in and check them again if she wants more options. Also, Steve Perry has a u-tube vide about the single point focus. The area isn't as small as one might think like the new Fine Point on the 3 newest Z cameras. Good luck.

Go to page 83. 83-98 for focus setup. My D810=have to press the OK Button after making menu selections if your camera has one. How to make & lock in selections is usually in the begining of the manual somewhere.

I had a D7100 and a D7500. The default on both was single point focusing. Your wife needs to rest. Push the button in the center of the AF/MF lever on the lower left of the D7200 body then turn the command and/or subcommand dials to reset.

Some, not all, third party glass won't play well with Nikon bodies. Could be a 1000 different reasons.
My strong suggestion, buy a Nikon 200-500, they keep coming down in price. Your field of view on the D7200 will be 300-750mm. Now were are talking wildlife stuff.
And guess what, you will have single spot, and autofocus, and you can have as many points as her little heart desires.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.
