Cancelling the student debt is difficult for me to understand. On the upside, we're well on the way to restoring the economy during a time when inflationary obstacles are plaguing us. Another excellent step forward is the long overdue infrastructure improvement program. Too bad he started his tenure by stepping on his johnson with the immigration debacle. Too bad Congress continues to not have what it takes to deal with a many decades old problem.

Commercial real estate foreclosures increased 97% in January 2024 compared to last year, reaching a high that has not been seen in nearly a decade, according to new data.

With 635 commercial foreclosures in January 2024, foreclosures increased 17% from December 2023 and 97% from January 2023, according to a report last week from property data analyst ATTOM.

The last time that commercial foreclosures were this high was in May 2015, per agency data.

"This uptick signifies not just a return to pre-pandemic activity levels but also underscores the ongoing adjustments within the commercial real estate sector as it navigates through a landscape transformed by evolving business practices and consumer behaviors," ATTOM CEO Rob Barber said.

What immigration law has been ignored ?

"Detention. Asylum seekers must be detained during the screening process and, if they establish credible fear, may be detained or released on parole during subsequent immigration court proceedings. (Exceptions exist for aliens in family units, who generally are not detained beyond the screening process due to the Flores Settlement Agreement, and for UACs, who must generally be transferred from holding facilities at the border to licensed shelters within 72 hours, and then released to a suitable placement.)"

I look at that like I look at Biden's story of a drunken truck driver killing his first wife and daughter.

They died in the accident.
The truck hit them.
It was tragic.

also,

Biden's wife drove into the path of the truck
The driver hadn't been drinking (not drunk)
Joe Biden lied about this to score sympathy points with the electorate.

I didn't really follow this trial but I am stuck with some things that I see in this NYT article...

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/18/nyregion/trump-trial-e-jean-carroll.html

During her opening statement, Ms. Habba said the defense would show that even friends of Ms. Carroll’s thought “her head was getting too big and that she was loving the adulation.”

During cross-examination, Ms. Habba asked Ms. Carroll about her income. Ms. Carroll said that in the 1990s, she was earning $400,000 a year writing for magazines. By 2018, she said, as falling ad revenue forced magazines to shrink their budgets, she was making only $60,000.

On Thursday, Ms. Carroll said that she is making $100,000 a year for an online column.

“So your reputation in many ways is better today, isn’t it?” Ms. Habba asked.

“My status was lowered,” Ms. Carroll said. “I’m partaking in this trial to bring my old reputation and status back.”

In other words, she was in it for the money. She as much as said so and Trump is an easy target.

I would recommend the evaluation of multiple reliable sources regarding the state of our economy in order to get a more complete picture of what's going on.

I'm not really interested in the finer points of re-litigating Big Convict's case but you, go for your life. It's good background noise for Trump 2024 eh. ... and Rac is going to share his pedo-archive with a jury.

What you don't seem to get is that it does not matter what I or you think, Trump is going to get the nomination regardless if everyone who comes to this forum and their entire families and all their friends were to vote against him. It is what it is....

So the only discussion to be had is Trump v Biden and what a lying incompetent asshole Biden is.

And the result will be the same. Only this time the house will be lost also . In fact there is a better chance of senate flipping that gop keeping control of house

I would not be so sure of myself Denny, the only thing that propelled and saved the Democrats in the last two cycles was the abortion issue, that could happen again as at the state level the republicans have in the past and continue today to shoot themselves in their feet while running a walking marathon.

Abortion is the only thing that the democrats have going for them at this point.
