After researching the phone, I found out that this phone had the best camera in the phone industry.
So I purchased it; the amount of noise at sunset is horrible.
It looks like a 480 image :(

I was thinking of not carrying all the heavy gear resulting from regular professional cameras.

It's not worth it, maybe just during the daylight.
Any other opinions?

Now that you've practiced buying new equipment, could it also now be time to practice your photography and how to use this new equipment?

You might consider too posting the example image, rather than describing a complaint.

Or sending it back for a refund and stick with real cameras?

Did you know there is a Smartphone Photography section of UHH?

You might get a better discussion there.

I don't even know how to take a photo with my phone. I can fly one of my drones with it, though.

And I bet you weren't born with that knowledge; you took some time to learn what you needed to know in order to be successful (i.e. don't crash the drone ).

I have the Samsung Galaxy S23 and I didn't care about its camera. Out of curiousity I took a test shot inside my house, not very bright and the result is OK by me

I have been using my S-23 for over a year ago and am quite satisfied with the results. It pairs its best camera with the 3x Telephoto lens, which gives it good reach. I will agree that it's nighttime response does go to somewhat noisy.

Why hasn’t the moderator moved this off topic post to the smartphone section where perhaps someone might care?

Heather in UHH just bought the Samsung 23 Ultra... I will pass this on to her. When she did "a go home again" trip taking her Sony A7II with her to Barbados was out of the question; a big heavy target for theft. She used her iPhone and was so satisfied with the results that she in now a camera phone convert. Our great-grandchildren will look at our photos with big DSLR and wonder why. DSLRs are going the way of the 5 1/2 inch floppy disk.

I have the Samsung 23 ultra and I do use it quite a bit when traveling. I was in Morocco in October and Cuba in January. I did have my Full frame Sony's but sometimes used the camera on my phone.

If any of you know Rick Sammon, his wife Susan, has been shooting with her iPhone for years. Rick is now also shooting with his Iphone but recently got the Samsung 23s Ultra for the professional options, it has a super zoom and a very wide angle.

I have been very happy with the results. If there is a bit to much noise I use Topaz Photo AI.
These 3 images are straight out of the phone camera. They are 12-21 MP.

I like the Samsung S23 because I can shoot DNG and choose shutter speed and ISO.

It would help if you went on a Mobile Phone Course to find out how to use the phone properly. This photo was taken with an I-phone 12 PRO MAX. It was printed last week as an A3 photo for a Club's exhibition. This is before any processing has been done to it.

A member of the club agreed to print it for me and to put it in a frame. I watched while he used the present Lightroom as he has a subscription whereas I only have Lightroom5. I was more impressed with the result and if anyone is interested I can post the finished print.

Observations. You will note that the left plank on the walkway the wood is a bit bleached so it is blown out. The person who processed it didn't know how to tone down the highlights.

The post on the right is very dark and there is no detail in the post. My friend told me nothing could be done with it as it was a JPEG photo. I am sure that those among you would be able to clone the pattern from the floor onto the post. I know what should be done, but I don't know how to achieve it. Please then show it and say how it was achieved. I am hoping to enter the photo in my other club's competition, but I wouldn't until I can fix the imperfections to the best of my ability.

As a small photo, the bits of debris are not noticeable, but once it was printed as an A3 the debris was obvious and were removed.

I asked my friend Don whom I met on this site (I am UK) he is USA, to see what he could do, so his version is even better than my friend's. I am sure that he wouldn't mind showing his version.

I was so impressed with the i-photo that I enrolled on a mobile phone short course. One of the members had a Samsung 24 and I was impressed with her photos, so much so, that the i-phone 15 PRO MAX that I had purchased two weeks earlier is now replaced with a Samsung 24 ULTRA. The phone is not perfect but, it is nearly as good as some of today's popular cameras.

All in all, I am very pleased with my Samsung. I have found that I now take more photos as the phone is always with me and is no bother to carry around.

Comments and observations are accepted.

Also, please feel free to process the photo and see what you can do with a mobile phone photo.

Thanks.

Heather

I had a Canon and then a Pentax point and shoot digital camera. Although they were only about five MB cameras, they took pretty good photos and, with the Pentax, pretty good videos, even though I already had a very nice Sony video camera.

I finally bought a Pentax K5 II DSLR, hoping I could replace my three cameras. However, my Pentax DSLR didn't record video in stereo, like my point and shoot cameras. It needs an external microphone to do that, which I have. So, my DSLR didn't work out for me, related to video.

I recently upgraded my old cell phone to a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. It has worked so well for both photos and videos that I rarely use my DSLR. I've got a nice camera with me all the time, now. If I need something special, like long optical telephoto photos, I take my DSLR. I'm not a cell phone nor a DSLR photo snob. I use both, depending on need and, of course, convenience.
