We've upgraded two laptops and a desktop PC to Win 11. After resolving the problems with Win 11's start menu using START11 and relocating the taskbar to the right side of the screen using ExplorerPatcher we're quite happy with Win 11. We're essentially back to Win 10's excellent user interface.

This is helpful. Thank you. I am a bit reticent to add this kind of software. Should I be? Can it be removed and so you know if there are any other conflicts with other software?

Can you be more specific about the AI app? What does it do? Is it removable?

It is called "COPILOT". I deleted it and removed references from registry. It has not reloaded itself.

MS references it here:

What were the "problems"?
Or was it some things you simply didn't care for.
(Not "software problems"....)

I consider it a problem when I can't customize my start screen or relocate the taskbar. Win 11 was supposed to be a step forward NOT a step backwards in functionality!

Why would you delete CoPilot? It is probably the most useful free tool I've ever encountered!

It has saved me many $$$ in plumbing/electrical repairs, given me excellent advice on where to find various products, found articles I wanted to read, provided history on numerous events, created unique images for Christmas, Valentines, Family Day, etc.

Use technology, don't be scared of it!!

That's a "dislike" for you, not an operational "problem" with windows.....

NORMALLY, if software has a "problem", it means that the software is not working properly (ie. broken).

It's your problem that the software doesn't do what you want it to do, not a problem with the software.

Otherwise Windows (any version) (or any other software) would have a ton of "problems" because it doesn't do what all users want it to do.......

When Windows 11 came out, the update told me that my hardware was not worthy of running Windows 11. I'm OK with Windows 10 (heck, I was fine with Windows XP)!

Haha....
I've been programming for over 50 years. I want to tell the computer what I want it to do, I don't want it thinking for me and trying to second guess me.

Just more crap so people don't have to think/reason/analyze anymore....
"Oh, let me see what my <phone/computer/smart watch> says to do."

Not scared, but fearful of where things are going.

Well, remember Windows ME, Vista, Windows 8 and other horrible Windows updates? Just because Bill Gates wants to update Windows doesn't make it better or even usable. Win98 was great, ME was not. XP was very good but Vista was terrible. Win7 was fine but Win8 was trash. Win 10 is also very good, but I wonder about 11. Seems like every other iteration is problematic. There is a reason large corporate users do not adopt Windows updates quickly. Conflict with other programs is one reason, instability is another. I'm always wary of Windows updates. MacOS and IOS updates seem to come with little or no problems. Better BETA testing?? Or better programers??

When Microsoft strips existing functionality from Win 11 that was available in Win 10 it is a problem!

Desktop, which I'm within a few days of updating is Windows 10 based. Laptop which I replaced a few weeks ago is Windows 7. An upgrade was just about forced. Hope I can make the transition without losing stuff.

I ran a software consulting firm for over 50 years. I love tools that make any job easier!

That’s a good distinction. However, I vote with my wallet. If it does not work for me, it does not work and I won’t buy it or use it. Lots of choices out there. Developers want to know what additional bells and whistles people want and adapt their software to satisfy many requests.

I am an investor and I sit on the board of a software development company. We develop proprietary software that solves specific needs in many industries. We listen to our clients and adapt to their requirements. That’s how we grow. Not by taking a take it or leave it attitude.

Well I’ve only been programming a little over 40 years, but I still do it professionally and while I see the real dangers of AI, (especially the ability to easily create deepfake video), I also see the usefulness of it as a tool. Using Copilot in no way lessens my control.
