Be aware that Glacier now requires vehicle permits per day for different zones within the park. Need to have these in in advance. Glacier is no longer an easy place to visit.

Okay, thanks. The wife is saying that you only need the permits for the West gate not the East for whatever reason but we plan to purchase the permits as soon as they go on sale in March.

The best places in the park, West side (Many Glaciers), Going to the Sun Road and North Fork. Looks like you only need the permits through Sept. 8th, so you may be okay. Last weekend my son was planning a trip there, and I looked it up for him since he didn't know.

Our problem is that we have a small dog that travels with us so we need pet friendly lodging.

Many glacier is East side. North of St Mary’s.

We will be heading to Glacier National Park in mid to late September so I'm asking anyone who has been there for lodging information that's pet friendly and the must see sites. We will have at least two weeks if necessary to see whatever there is to see. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I think you need reservations to enter. Maybe/maybe not in September which is probably Fall season popular. If so you might want to hop on that now.

When we arrived in mid-September, we were the next-to-last visitors to go across Going-to-the-Sun road... for the year! They were closing the road early to do road work!

Road work is a huge undertaking. When you combine the terrain and weather of the area it’s a miracle it even survives. When I worked there we helped clear the road where an avalanche had occurred. What an eye opener. Trees 2 1/2 to 3 feet in diameter were snapped like matchsticks.

For those who have never been inconvenienced by destruction/reconstruction, this is a 'HEADS UP' warning!
