Why do folks complain about posting a photo in the wrong section, when the new primary listing comes up with the sections mixed in the first place? Sure one can filter down to a specific section if they want to, but why criticize someone for posting in the wrong section when the start page is mixed up anyway? I guess some folks just aren't happy unless they have something to complain about!

My start page is the home page. And in the home page listed the sections. I only go to the section I want. It helps that the threads not related to the section not there.

That would requite thinking and action.

Simpler just to select from the pick-list?
But that would require thinking also...
Some folks display a strong unwillingness to deviate from their years-long habits, as we've witnessed for several months with regards to the Digest changes.

I understand that behavior to an extent. But complaining about something that is easily remedied with a little education? That I do not get

Seems that some of the "offenders" of posting in the "forbidden wrong" section, have been new, or fairly recently joined, members, who maybe haven't yet learned where the hallways and doorways are in the site.....like maybe, they have not become acquainted with "quote reply" button, either.

But, by golly.......they just can't be allowed to be inexperienced and/or normal humans, prone to making mistakes, sometimes, apparently.

My start page is my profile page. It's a handy link to have on my browser's bookmarks bar if I want to check whether there are new comments on my topic, without having to log in.

From that page, it's a quick scroll to "log in" at the top, and from there: newest topics, watched topics, etc.

Yes, I pointed that out to Chg-Canon a couple of days ago: a user's very first topic and he gets some cryptic comment from Paul. I suppose the user is expected to learn from that...

Yes, I do not believe that is just one isolated incident, though, is it?

Must resist change at all costs.

That....
.....and alzheimers / dementia makes change more and more difficult as they advance from mild to higher levels.

But, as much mental stimulation as a sufferer of those can handle, ie, photography - forum participation, can be one part that's helpful for some, to slow the advance of the losing of mental sharpness.

When logged in, clicking "home" takes you to your subscribed sections. "Main Photography Discussion" will always be at the top of the list because Admin recently removed our option to unsubscribe from that section.

If people were to navigate to the section they want, and then click "create new topic," there would be less confusion for them, and less fodder for the tedious trolls.

I guess I rarely go to a Section; I just go to Watched Topics, Newest Topics, and Newest Pictures.

Because I don't use The Digest as the portal to the UHH sections, your comment made me curious. So, I just took a look over there.

If a member is logged in, your method mentioned in your comment, is totally possible. Same as if logging in directly to the "main site". So, seems your method is available to everyone logged in.

I have to say that I got a chuckle out of that one!

Actually, a lot more response on this than I expected. Anyway, I seldom use the individual sections and prefer to just look over the mixed listing that comes up if you don't change it. Kind of like an expanded version of the "What's New List" that used to come up with the old format.

If you mean Paul's comments, no. He and Rongnongno are "always on the job," as Paul put it.

If you mean people posting Gallery topics in main discussion, no. There are quite a few on a regular basis.

There is that.
Also, there may be other ulcerations.

In younger years I grew up around.....and in later years have worked around, people who seem absolutely unwilling to be, or uninterested in being, a witness to others being contented or happy. They will go out of their way to try to wipe the smile off someone's face, and discourage the joy out of someone's soul.

I'm guilty of showing my unwillingness to be compliant with their apparent efforts to ridicule happiness out of others.
