I do understand why the main subject in landscape (and in some other) photos are generally not placed in the center of the photo. I believe the house (the main subject) is off-center in my photo --it is to the right more, and the horizon is certainly below the center. Probably not by much, and perhaps a bit more may result in a more pleasing photo to some eyes. I took a number of photos of this house from various angles/perspectives. The reason I liked this one, and chose it for my post was because the snowy white path that leads to the white door was the most pleasing for me. The leading line, so to speak, was the draw for me. But I do appreciate your suggestion, and I thank you for it.

You’re right. Perhaps I said a little too much. I also noticed that snowy path and realised that it’d be kinda tough to move the subject farther off-centre and still keep that on the pic. It adds a great effect and I wouldn’t want the snow to be missing. Whatever the case, it’s a great pic! Good job!

Love this photo, makes me wonder when it was built and the family context, why it was abandoned. (Parents aged and kids didn't want to farm? Farm failed due to expenses vs production?) It certainly was well built and designed. It no doubt could be restored if someone had the ambition. How far to the nearest town? Thanks for sharing!

Thanks again, NateB. I did not take any offense to your comment. In fact, I appreciate any and all suggestions on the photos I post. I may not always follow the suggestions made, but I do appreciate them.

Thank you very much, ELNikkor. I wonder about the same things when I run across these old houses. The house was located about 5 miles from town. But, in the 1950s, the rail line leading to that town was moved, and it did not take long after that for the school, post office, and other buildings/businesses to close. Eventually everyone either moved or died. C'est la vie! The end of another town.
