I have it all! I have been installing it on different computers for years. "Wipe off, wipe on."

Alas, 'it' what? Joining a 3-page discussion with a random link and then random vagueness doesn't seem particularly helpful.

You seem to be out of your depth. Maybe go back to worrying about your multiple scanners ....

Hi,
Can anyone help me with this?
I have a Nikon D7000 and I shoot with RAW. How can I get the files to transfer to JPG or something, Currently, my Photoshop CS5 does not recognize them.

Any idea anyone?

Thanks for your help.

Download the free program from Nikon, Nikon Studio NX. It will open any NEF file. You can process them or just make Jpegs.

https://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/download/sw/249.html

Or download just about any third party RAW processor. DXO PL will recognize the NEF files.

Perhaps downloading a newer ACR would help. Adobe website said you only need ACR 6.3 to handle *.nef files from Nikon D7000.

Camera Raw was originally a Photoshop plugin to open raw files into Photoshop for editing. It was a free download then, but today's version is only available with a subscription to Photoshop. It can no longer be downloaded free, on its own. While Bridge is free, and ACR installs with Bridge, it still requires an installed, supported version Of Photoshop to work.

Since my Adobe account goes back a long way, I tried to see if I could still access ver. 6.0/6.7 and I cannot. One post on a Photoshop forum said that the poster found links, but they were all dead. I can download the Photoshop CS5 update, but it will not install because it can't find a prior version to update from. (I probably have a disk squirreled away somewhere, but I am not motivated to look for it.) None of this old software is supported by Adobe any longer anyway, so barring finding someone who has saved the executable for this old version, I think this may be the time to cut bait...

This (learning newer software) is why I keep going with the $10-a-month Photoshop plan, which allows me to absorb new features as they arrive, and not have to learn a whole new program from scratch. I can't even imagine starting out with Photoshop today. It must seem overwhelming to someone who is doing it for the first time...

I started with Ps 1.0 back in the 1980s. I would NOT want to try to learn Ps 25.3.1 (current) from scratch! It was hard enough going from Ps 4.0 to Ps 6.0.

If the OP has a Mac released after 2020, using the $40 Raw Power 3.4.x app/plug-in would make GREAT conversions of those old NEF files. Most simple edits could then be done in the free Apple Photos. For better flexibility, add Serif's $70 Affinity Photo 2.x. This duplicates much of the functionality of Adobe's suite, and probably satisfies most enthusiast users' needs.

Doesnt matter anymore. Thread collapsed onto itself some time ago anywho. Its now just your geek bleeting, as usual. The real advice was already posted much earlier on from someone else.

I know, but the OP's effort to thank someone needs a reminder that their effort failed when not using the site's tools.

A couple of years ago I lost my CS5 on my laptop. I called Adobe and they gave me a link to download it. A while later I couldn't load it on my desktop. I was getting a message that my copy wasn't registered. I called Adobe and after doing some research the rep found when they installed on my laptop they changed my license. He updated the license to match the laptop. CS5 is still working on both computers.

It's not the latest and greatest, but neither am I!

Chasc!

I normally use Nikon NX Studio (as well as Nikon Capture NX2 for my older Nikon cameras) for my NEF files among all the other editing programs that I also have and use. Each has their own features and efficiencies!

Very often, I use FastStone Image Viewer, see: https://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm for a "quick and dirty" image adjustment. It is simple to use compared to other software! Currently, I'm using a relatively new (2 years old) Nikon Z5 camera and my NEF files download and open without a problem! If I can open these files, then FastStone will probably open your older Nikon D7000 NEF files. The price is right (FREE DOWNLOAD!).

In the Menu bar along the top is "Tools." The drop down window contains batch processing tools. Go to "Help" all the way to the right to download a Tutorial.

Your NEF files will remain, not be converted and encumbered with DNGs and you will be able to save as jpegs or whatever!

Be well! Ed
