Laugh all you want. Go ahead and ignore unsolicited messages with offers. My mail-order Russian bride will be showing up soon. She sent me her picture (Oh My) and said that she was looking for someone like me. I sent her money for her passport and plane ticket so I know she will be coming. She was to be here last month; however, something came up and she needed me to send her more money. I can hardly wait...!

Looks like a scam to me, especially since I have no idea who these people are. The e-mail address looks funny too. It's is sent to 100's of email addresses, (many looking like e-mail lists from companies like Macafee), that look like they were copied and hope that someone would be dumb enough to respond.

Everyone is saying scam, but maybe not. Did you at any time in the last year seek advice for a computer problem? You may have thought you were getting free advice or a one-time service payment of say 19.99. Somewhere in your dealings with the company, you checked a box that said you agreed to their terms without reading what those terms were. The terms were that you would be billed at the normal yearly rate for the following year. I've had this happen a couple of times and have been refunded on all but one occasion.

A company had a special for hosting a website for 29.99. A year later they sent me a notice that my hosting fee went through for 99.99. I had never set the website up and did not plan to continue. When I contacted the company they cancelled the account but only at the end of a year and there was no refund for the paid year. There are a lot of companies out there that will pull this auto-billing scheme and while it is not illegal, it is unethical. I never agree to terms unless I read through them now and always make sure the auto-renewal is turned off. I make a copy of this and keep it because there have been cases where an overzealous salesperson signs up people to collect a commission.

On the other hand, it could simply be a scam!

Google the phone number before you call it.....
10 to 1 it was recycled toll free or hokey.

If one never did business with them prior, how would they charge your "account"? They never say which one.
How can they something "renew" if you never had it before?
Established companies never send email from Gmail.
If you can, check the header information for where it originated, they're mostly from servers outside of the USA.

The first time this occurred years ago I checked our cards, NOTHING... I just started marking them as spam.

THINK before you react!!!

1. My Norton is on yearly auto-renew for $116. NOT over $400
2. I know what date Norton renews, it's in April.
3. Came from Jack E. Bell<calebtodd761@gmail.com>??? Why not "Norton"????? Real invoice notices do.
...from the header info, the email originated at
..."Received: from mail-yw1-x112f.google.com ([IPv6:2607:f8b0:4864:20::112f])"
4. The phone number does not show up in Google. New number?
...Norton is in Tempe, AZ. Area code 860 is in Connecticut.....
5. "auto-debition" REALLY????
6. The email it was sent to is not the one I use for Norton.

Definitely spam/phishing..... They want you get all worked up and call them, probably to give them your card info "to get a credit"... yea, right.

It's even a bit juicier than that.
The one you received says it's 'Auto-debiton'

By the way. If one of these things comes in with an attachment,
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES OPEN IT!
You have no idea of what may really be in the attachment!

Gilkar, it is MOST DEFINITELY a scam. But you are right, to some it might look legit...and some might even answer the post. (G-D help them!) I get them constantly. I laugh a lot and just delete, delete, delete!!!

I guess my attempt at humor and sarcasm fell well short of the target.

If you're referring to your initial post, it did with me.
SO many people fall for it though.
"I didn't buy that, I better call them and get the charge reversed"...
And THAT's what they are counting on people doing.
