Once upon a time before the GOP became a cult they would say let the market place make the decision. It will happen in this case again, There will be choices and it will be decided by our pocketbook.Battery cars and a better infrastructure will have to improve or there could be hydrogen powered cars, synthetic fossil fuel, natural gas or any number of new ideas and the market place will make the decision what works best. Like 100 years ago when it decided on the internal combustible engine.

Is that how you characterize the mandates in California and many other states that no ICE cars will be sold? That has nothing to do with ideology? If the marketplace were to truly decide the government tax subsidies to “encourage” buying EVs would not exist. I don’t have a rats a.. what kind of car you drive but to say your team is letting the market decide and vapid. You can virtue signal all you want but be intellectually consistant.

1. Ok, I’ll give you 100 miles although most EVs can easily do more than 100 miles.
2. I have taken numerous trips without ever being in danger of running out of juice. I live in Alabama, a state government and residents who are anti EV, and even we have plenty of EV chargers.
3A. Maybe the electricity came from coal - so what? I bought my EV because I love driving an EV.
3B. With the slow adoption of EVs, the grid is safe. Your utility knows what is doing as far as future power needs. That’s if the regulators and the Greenies will allow them to expand.
4. Really? Do you think manufacturing of an ICE does not require ore extraction, or is not hydrocarbon intensive, or polluting?
5. And I will add one more, I bought an EV because I love owning an EV. I’m not trying to save the world.

Ask owners of EVs in California if the ‘grid is safe’.

The fossil fuel industry spends 13 times the renewable industry on political campaigns. Still it will be people in the market for a new car that will decide the future of the automotive industry. I to don't give a rats A.. what. you drive but the consumer will be to ones that will determine what kind of car will be available in the future.

When the government puts their thumb on the scale of EVs what are they to do? Roll over and play dead. Wouldn’t it be cool if the energy companies did R&D in renewables. Oh wait, they do. My electric utility investing millions on developing a viable fuel cell that would power a large residence. It works but isn’t quite ready for prime time. Oh well, it will eventually be viable and they’ll earn a return on the investment. They are honest about it pros and cons an aren’t trying to jamb it down anybodys throat. It would be naive in the extreme to believe the energy producers aren’t working like crazy to develop energy sources outside their current business model. To my way of thinking choice is good. I suspect to 30,000 Icelanders without heat would agree. Same with the folks who had to abandon their EVs on the roads in the big blizzard recently. Or the auto dealers who sit on millions of unsold inventory. Choice not force. I recall somebody saying we should not underestimate Joes ability to F things up. Trying to kill traditional energy is but one example.

Good for you! Glad you like your vehicle.

Likely will not be as advantageous in most of the Western U.S. (except for the “Left Coast” states: CA, OR, WA).

Of course the fossil fuel folks spend 13 times more than the renewables folks. That’s because the government actively promotes renewables while doing its best to shut down fossil fuels.

Nobody has to talk KFC into selling chicken because that’s what they already do just as nobody has to talk the government into pushing renewable energy because they already do.

Only coastal WA and OR. The inland folks are more conservative and the weather is not a user friendly for EVs.

Rode in an EV Uber today, a Ford. There’s a button you can push that will make a motor sound. Step on the pedal and it makes a reving sound!

We did that with cards on the spokes of our bicycles.

Ha! We never played cards so we’d use strips of a disposable tin pie pan. It was good and loud!
