Capture One Express is shutting down tomorrow - not much advance notice.
Tomorrow – February 12, 2024 – Express won’t be usable anymore as we need to focus on introducing new and better features to improve your workflow. You can easily transfer your images and edits from Express to Pro. Just open your Express Catalog in Pro and keep creating. If you don't want to switch to Pro, follow the instructions in this article to keep your images and edits.
Interesting. I wonder what "...follow the instructions in this article to keep your images and edits." really means. If the two editors I use went away at lunch time I wouldn't loose anything. All my pictures and edit results are on my hard drive, safe and sound. I wouldn't "loose" anything.

Spend the $10 a month for LR/PS and never have to worry about it! :) :)

Normally I’d agree, but if you’re shooting Fuji, I’ve found that Capture One produces visibly better results from Fuji’s XTrans sensor (and I’m not alone)

They have been announcing the closure for weeks if not months.
That is an issue with Raw developers in general. I use ACDSee which doesn't have the horse power of Adobe, what if they go belly up? After developing an image I always export to jpeg ( I've considered dng or tiff which is huge) so I preserve my work in a non propriety format.
That is why the subscription software is here to stay. So many are willing to pay because it's only $10.
$10 a month for, lets say 10 things, is only $1,200 a year. But ONE item (charge) is only $10. Affordable. 10 for this, 7 for that, 12 for the other, .......

It all adds up especially for a retiree on a fixed income.
