It finally warmed up enough to take my camera out to play. This was a walk along Elm Creek and around Rice Lake. I included the color version because I like it both ways. Feel free to comment.
The reflection in #2 is perfect in that bit of open water. Beautifully composed, interesting winter scene.
Thank you! It was a foggy, misty dreary day.
Really nice 2nd image. If I may; crop it to just the top of the tree outcropping on the left,(of the tree on the right).
This may make it more intimate, which your image portrays.
Work with the tonalities a bit to get a bit more separation; maybe just some brightness/ contrast settings, or highlights/ shadows sliders, or even levels adjustments. If desired, play with it and see what you come up with.
All in all, though, a very lovely image. I also really like the reflection in the open water. Good timing and catch.
Thanks for the comments. I’ll play with this a little more and see what I can bring out. I’ve a lot to learn about processing B&W.
I don’t see any focal point to draw my eye in #1.
However, #2 is outstanding.
Thx for posting.
Thanks for the comments. What attracted me to #1 was the contrast of the black branches against an almost white sky and lake pointing towards someone’s footprints. The scene was vaster than what I was able to captured. It I’d definitely more abstract than #2.
