Simple question
I have a D7500 nikon camera. And I just got a Tamron 150-600g2 lens.
My question bc I can not find this answer. Should I be able to auto focus that lens on my d7500 nikon. Or do I need that lens on an fx body for it to auto focus.
I have been unAble to auto focus
And I want to stop guessing….
Thank you for the answer

I had one for a short time. It worked on all my Nikon cameras, DX and Full Frame. I didn't like the results I was getting, but the folks that chimed in at that time were mostly very happy with it.
I had purchased mine from one of the major stores (I forget which) who took it back with no issue.

Thank you for the reply’s. I figured out The problem. Beside me knowing what to do. Flip the AF button on the lens and the camera. Things started working correctly.

Exactly what I was gonna tell you to check.
Thanks for the (important) information about the D7500.
About a month ago, I posted an inquiry about the 7500, as I was saving up to purchase that Nikon.
My present Nikon is a D40 and I am using my brother's D3400 because of AF problems
with my old telephoto lens. Seems the Auto focus on the telephoto just (died), and the repairs
would be a huge chunk towards a new lens.
I switched it to (M) mode to focus and it was difficult, (as I wear glasses).
Nothing like bring home a great shot that has a bad focus.
I'm glad that you like the Nikon d7500. I'm not ready to fork over the bucks and switch to the
new "Mirrorless" cameras.
Old habits are hard to break. (plus, I'm not a professional, and photography as a hobby, could get
really out of hand, especially, if my wife has anything to do with my spending $3,000 on the newest
Nikon.
Thanks Buckeye

You're a valuable member here, Thomas. I remember my first post here several years ago, where my picture happened to require some straightening and you offered kind patient assistance, standing out against a fair amount of unhelpful bluster. I'm sure in the intervening years you have imparted that same knowledgeable and patient assistance to more than once.

That lens should work on either a FF or FX body. You may have purchased a bogus lens. I would contact the seller ASAP. And return for full refund. Next time, buy the still great Nikon 200-500. When on sale it's about a grand.
