This came up on one of my news feeds today. Almost makes me want to consider Mac next time I shop for a computer. I started with dos-based OS in the early 80s and never considered Apple because back then they were primarily for graphics based applications, and I was in word processing.

Interesting.
I've been using Firefox since it began as Netscape.
I do check my website code on Chrome and Edge, but that's all I use them for.
I like the ease of use and features of Firefox MUCH more.

If one really can't uninstall Edge, just don't use it......

I agree with Longshadow. I have used Firefox for many years and have never had an issue with it. My opinion is that Microsoft has become the computer Nazis of the modern age.

A while back I tried downloading Firefox and was told they don't support Windows 7, bummer. Well, I'm not going to give up 7 for Firefox even if Chrome spies on me. But let them I'm not doing anything wrong or even exciting anyway.

Yea.
I had a 12 year old Win 7 box running Firefox. No more updates. I forget when that was.
Then either Chrome or Edge said the same thing...
Maybe 6 months later I replaced the box, also because no more 7 updates. Now Win 11.
All three of our computers are Win 11 now.
I never stopped using Firefox though.

I am also a Firefox fan and use it for everything I can.

A few websites don't work however, Vons just4u (grocery discounts) and LG registration site need Chrome to use them on my Mac, darnit.

I use Brave browser supposed to be about as private as you can get.
I use qwant as my search engine for the same reason.

I have done the same as Long shadow wrote. I’ve used Mozilla fire fox longer than I can remember never had a problem with it. I learned about chrome and it’s mess. Wayback when . That’s why I never used it. I recently bought a new laptop. with windows 11 I am mediately turned off OneDrive and installed Mozilla no problems at all. I just don’t use edge. I have windows 10 pro on my desktop and never use age.
In the mornings like like this, I use my iPad Pro to read the forum and like right now I use voice recognition to transcribe this message. When I got the iPad, the first thing I did was install Mozilla.
I’ve had a. MacBook Pro loaded to the gills because my job provided it for some stuff that I supported they also provided an iPhone I gave them both back. Apple products are over priced and overrated. They used to be considered Mostly A fashion statement in a way they still are a lot of the users and owners have a smugness about them but they are stylish. I like my iPad Pro, but it’s a tablet and it has its limitations.
Stay away from Google Chrome do not use it.

Yea, on occasion I find one or two that don't work well on Firefox, luckily I don't have to keep the links.
I have one utility site that basically asks If I want to use Chrome or Edge, or continue with "this" browser. So far it works continuing with "this" browser.....
It's probably when the developer uses weird ("custom") code strings, straightforward code should work everywhere.

I build my pages viewing with Firefox, check with Chrome and Edge, and adjust if necessary. I haven't had to adjust anything yet.

That's odd. I use Firefox on windows 7 everyday. I'm using it right now. True, I haven't seen updates for a long time.

That's true, bot both. Existing software on a Win 7 box will continue to run, without getting updates.

You had it on the system before their update, which will not load (new install) on Win 7.....
A bit of a difference.

Edge is based on Chrome, from what I've read in several places MS as mitigated many of the holes and problems that Chrome has. That doesn't mean it's not spying on you, but from my experience it's easier to control tracking cookies and such than Chrome. Never liked Chrome.

Anyway my preferred browser is DuckDuckGo as is my preferred search engine. Although DuckDuckGO is difficult to sync favourites between computers.

Both Edge and Chrome track. And they both seem so cumbersome compared to Firefox.
Sometimes I'll use Duck Duck Go search engine, in Firefox.
Firefox can turn off mostly all trackers with the Ironvest extension.
I'll stick with Firefox.

I've used Firefox, and Chrome and found Edge a pain over the years. I am not a fan of Apple and even less since Steve Jobs retired. I have an iPhone for work going on 5 years a Samsung Android phone for personal use and do not care for Apple products because they are not intuitive and difficult. Yes Yes, Apple users will disagree and say they are the best its a Coke Pepsi thing. About those I prefer Mexican Coke and our country's love affair with high fructose corn syrup is interesting. Chrome seems to be getting finicky and have Firefox installed and use it as a second browser but it may become my primary again unless Chrome gets its act together. The biggest thing I see is who will introduce the best AI assistant that's not hamstrung and uses critical thinking, that is not politically biased or pushes one social bent over another. Neither Microsoft or Google have made any great strides toward this goal and their offerings are glorified calculators with major guard rails.
