Sure just like the RAW vs JPEG thread but we don't know what kind of percentage of people who do use protective filter vs people who don't.
Ok, I’ll go along with it. Always.

Hopefully Clarence Seward Darrow will join a thread when we all 'eventually' join him.

Likewise. I never even remove it to add on a dioptre or grad filter. IOW its part of my lens. If that makes "my lens" congenitally inferior, then who can explain why my results are so superior to all others ?

I use an orange filter on my film camera lenses, unless it is a yellow or red. I suppose you could say it has a secondary purpose of protecting the lens.
Looks like very few voted on your poll.

Normally, filters used for effect (star, ND, ...) are not considered "protection filters" as they do not reside on the lens
all the time. Mostly, protection filters have no effect on the image and are "permanently" attached to the lens, except for temporary removal to prevent vignetting from stacking other "effect" filters.

No, I generally use lens hood for lens protection.
