No idea what this is. Maybe some kind of Willys Jeep to start off with.

As you should know, I enjoy your photos of Classics and Customs but RatRods..not so much. They have no appeal to me.

I can't knock the photo, I enjoy Kim's work very much, but I share your disdain for the rat rod craze. Complete waste of money from my point of view. The other thing is restoring a classic vehicle and then clear coating the "patina" of the junkyard find. Just paint the car...

That's why they make chocolate, vanilla & strawberry...and even neopolitan for those who can't make up their mind.

Rat Rods are a cool expression of a builders artistic/creative eye, but often times I've seen them built with no regard to safety. I have seen them at shows with terrible welds at critical points including 5" spikes bracing engine mounts as well as shoddy welds on shortened frames. The strive to be creative and different can easily default to being unsafe to drive at any speed! Thankfully, I've also seen many that were well engineered by knowledgeable builders with a well thought out plan.

Great catch, Kim.

I like this a lot. Rat rods have their place and this one is vying to be King of the Hill. Some of the better known auto design guys got their start with this kind of stuff. I've seen examples with very sound engineering and high-quality construction. Of course, there are some that don't have either.

I've never examined them that closely and can't see the "art". Forgive me for saying this but I just can't get past my initial reaction of..."junkyard with wheels".

Some people will call anything "art." I wonder why none of the major car manufacturers seem to have a rat rod division?

Great shot Kim, rat rods are always interesting to look at because they are something different...
