Obviously you put it in a safe place!

Yes, I often do that. However, sometimes, I pick something up, walk around a bit, and then put it down without thinking about it.

I'm terrible about forgetting where I left stuff... the problem is that I have an image in my head of what I'm looking for and if I don't see that image, I don't see the item. I once looked two weeks for my chainsaw- it was in an orange case and I could not find the orange case. Well... the chainsaw in the orange case was in Arkansas and I was in Alaska... where my chainsaw is in a black case... a case with a distinctive chainsaw shape- and had been stepping over it for two weeks... an instance where my visual brain stomped all over my rational brain. I've learned to not "imagine" what I'm looking for and just "look"... I don't know how that works, but it does...

Been there done that. Not long ago I needed a tool that I don't use often and could not find it. I bought a new one, used it and thought to myself, I need to put this where I can find it next time. Would you believe the place I chose to put it is right where the original was laying. All I can say is it is a great storage place!

I have many, many duplicates. That makes it easier to find what I want the next time.

Went on vacation so I hid the extra set of keys to my wife's car. Never found them. Even moved, packing everything ourselves, and they never showed up.

When we got home from FL years ago, my camera was missing. I thought I might have left it in the motel. Nope! I bought a new one - another Fuji bridge camera. A week later, I found the original one - under the driver's seat.

I have a tendency to put things in places and forget where I put them. Usually, it's because a lot of time elapses between the putting and the looking. Yesterday, I found a Christmas present I had bought for him. With his birthday coming up, I can't find two things I bought for him a couple of months ago. As a last resort, I'll have to buy them again. If I find the originals soon enough, I can return them - unopened. I'll have to start writing down where I put things.

I have that problem too, but for mainly a different reason. I have a wife that requires the house to be like a showing model home all the time so if I leave any personal items around they get stuck in a drawer, put in the attic, thrown in the garbage (if she doesn't see any value in it), or simply bitched about until I remove it.... so, I have a tendancy to hide things from her so they don't get moved or thrown away (or bitched about) and I hide them so well that frequently I can't find them myself! I have found the old saying to be true many times though; If you can't find something, buy another one and then you will remember where you put the first one!

Guess there are a couple of uses for the phone, take a picture where you put them, and use the notes to write it down. Thank you for posting this😊.

I can relate to that. Strangely, when I do find something that I have been looking for, I often wonder "Why the heck did I put it there?"

The best way to find a lost item is to go buy another one. The first one will instantly turn up.

I call it "the Rod Serling syndrome". And the best way to find something is to buy another one

That will result in you losing your desktop.

But without a top on the desk the computer will fall and smash on the floor, so it won't matter anyway.

Or the last three you bought, and they will all be in the same place where you put them for "safe keeping".
