How many section policemen would we then need to chastise those that dare post in the wrong section?

With the abundance of posts lately depicting what I would call abstract photo art (manipulation?) I think Administration should consider a new section for this type of "art" which really has little to do with photography, but rather with one's skills using computer programs.
That stuff takes as much camera skill as most of what’s posted in the gallery.

I don't think "abstract" appropriately describes the kinds of images you seem to be speaking of. Photographs can be "abstract" without any kind of manipulation. If you are speaking of the many composites, heavily processed, and AI-assist images we see on UHH, remember that there are already specialty sections like "Digital Artistry" and "AI Artistry and Creation". I personally think there are already way to many Sections in the UHH Forum.
I agree with your assessment and statement. Enough already!

Very good response.
“Abstract” to you may mean something completely at odds with what it means to me - a heavily processed and manipulated image vs. one that focuses on some little detail of a commonly seen subject that is often overlooked.
Think Dali vs. Weston. Both are considered ‘abstract’, and yet both are very different from the other.

Don't the policemen hang out solely in main discussion forum?

Actually, it has much to do with photography. If we did not take the photograph, we would have nothing to "play with." Ask your wife/girlfriend to never wear makeup again. And duck.

"Art" is whatever fifty idiotic pages of UHH "discussion" determines it to be, at least for those Hawgsters involved.

Now, now, User; the discussion of "art" is always interesting. That is, as long as it's not dumbed down by comments like "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".....

Wash your mouth out with soap.

This discussion touches on the ART of Photography!
I personally feel that Photography as a discipline is the intersection of ART & Technology.
I did a LOT of immage manipulation in my Analog days. Dodging, Spotting, tilting the paper, contrast adjustment with filters etc, paper selections, all SORTS of Camera effects.
My solution is to differentiate IMMAGES & Photographs to some degree.

Manipulation is a skill and is necessary as you grow and gain knowledge.
Example, this was taken in a parking lot and would have never worked to elevate the story line on this exclusive Ford GT.
All photos should be posted in the gallery, end of story... but if you fail yourself or lack the skills needed, don't give up and try to be considerate of those who put forth an effort to express their vision of he world.

I like your example.
This, also in a parking lot, of a *real* radiator cap on a really nice automobile that was perhaps 50 years old.
"Abstract" is whatever we want it to be. For some, a photo that has been highly manipulated in post. For others, a little detail overlooked by others.
