Filters or no filters? How do you feel about post-processing tools shaping your final image?
When a photo, taken by 'someone else' is casually viewed, I suspect the viewer introduces subjective elements in deciding if a photo is over procesed. But consider two images of the same scene, both with minimal processing where the first image is shot in a golden hour period and the second image is shot at noon. Certainly, the first image will appear over saturated in comparison, but is accurate to the light at the time it was shot.
I would also guess that two people with equal post processing skills given a raw file would process the image and it would look different when both were finished with their work.
If a person finds images they don't like, pass it by and move on.

The question is, do you believe that others who do a lot of processing are computer graphics people and not photographers?
Yes!...sometimes! Or artists, maybe! Nothing says you can't be both, I guess! But I can't be!!

Nope. Whats special about AI is that, through its Al Gore Riddems, it does something like thinking. Thaz why some peeps fear it. It can make some decisions. If it is your current job to make those decisions, then you are at risk.

Couldnt you say that if you go even slightly beyond purely "corrective" PP, into any minor degree of personalizing images, then you are both, even if the balance is rather lopsided ?

i agree. it's subjective of course. "salt to taste" is my comment.
That appears to be a blood pressure risk issue for large and vocal choir of Hawgsters. I prefer exotic sea salt myself, and plenty of it ! Mix in some hot sauce and garlic and its game on.

Yes, I suppose so. Never really thought of it that way. Yikes!! Does that mean I'm a computer graphics guy? THE HORROR of it all!!
You won't tell anyone, will you?

No need. You never hid it very well ;-)

That is an individual decision, just like an artist, photographers reserve the Privilege of creating an image to their individual tastes.
Usually I just use a few sliders on my images, just enough to add to the thought I am trying to convey.
@BillNikon
Just have to say that is an extraordinary picture. Just Wonderful.
It makes me think of This:
Biomimicry is a practice that learns from and mimics the strategies found in nature to solve human design challenges—and find hope.
I think post processing is done when shooting film or digital. Some photographers post process more than others. Some over do it others less so. Some photographers can capture the information they need others not so. For me I always disliked PP. I had a whole darkroom set up and never used it. Only for developing my film and some printing. Otherwise the local film store is where I went.
In a perfect world we photographers would all be happy with all of our photos SOOC. Since the world isn't cooperating in that manner, post-processing is a fun and satisfying part of the process.

My observation is that some Hawgsters do see themselves operating in that Perfect World. Im not impressed with their results, but obviously they are, and their SOOC peers are as well. So que sera sera on that.

Haha...
I edit each shot individually to my taste. Too bad my camera "presets" can't make them each the way I would like them to be.
The presets don't make every shot perfect, but on average they do pretty well.
Every shot would have to have its own presets to be
perfect.....
I'm not going to stand there adjusting every possible preset parameter for EACH shot to get a perfect SOOC shot!
Those who take it as a self-inflicted challenge, have at it.
