One day we met over the fence and he stated how exasperated he was and just giving up.
I asked if he wanted a solution. I got that 'You think your smarter than me' look.
He said 'yes'.
I went out into an old field I knew about and caught a ~4 foot gopher snake.
Brought it home and turned it loose in his yard with him watching.

Never saw the snake again. Never saw another gopher in the neighborhood!

It seems that Amazon no longer has these, but I'm sure they'll have more soon. They're plastic and easy to operate, so you can wash and reuse them. They have a small, removable bait cup. Remove the cup, add peanut butter, and put it back into the trap. The big advantage is ease of setting. Place the trap on the floor and push down on the setting pad. Done!

I leave two or three around the house, and my dog checks them occasionally. If there is a mouse in one, he removes it and brings it to me. Seriously.

Damn Jerry, your just now find them😉 Sharon got me some BC The old wooden traps by Victor are no longer made of wood and the staples that hold the trap together pull out after two or three uses.

Snakes in the house are a known trip hazard.

My box from Amazon was green and white. They say to use fresh bait, but the trap that caught a mouse the other day had been sitting there for months.

Found a trap name is TOMCAT, we have better luck with sticky boards, get bugs too.

My Border/Australian would catch squirrels and possums from outside. She would bring them in the house. A veterinarian friend told me it’s not as a present for you. She has never seen you hunt for food. She is showing you how to catch food. I miss my Lucy!

I've used Tom Cat when Victors weren't available. No more wooden traps for me! Setting them was always hit or miss.

Funny. I heard the same thing about cats. They think their owners are stupid.

Back on the farm, the cats did a pretty good job of controlling the mice, but we'd supplement their help when we saw a gopher snake (bull snake) in the fields. We'd take that snake to the barn and it would eat its share of mice.

My mom didn't like mice, but for some reason she didn't want us to put snakes in the house.

I don't blame her!!!

Glue traps baited with peanut butter around them are my traps of choice. Mouse and trap go into the garbage.

There are quite a few listed on Amazon. As with most things, there are multiple listings for the exact same thing or something that is essentially the same item.

Jerry!

We use Victor's electronic traps too, see: https://www.amazon.com/Victor-M241-Touch-Upgraded-Electronic/dp/B074XXNC9G?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1

We paid less, in the $20+ range a while back. A big one and a couple of small ones for the little guys. When there's street or nearby subway construction, there might be a flurry of rat and mouse activity here in Manhattan, NYC.

These traps always work fine for us and are definitely reusable.

Be well! Ed

That's a good story. When clearing sites for building, gophers will be removed by vacuuming them out of their burroughs and then relocating them.

Or a hazard to your hearing when someone (most likely female) screams so loudly that it damages your ears. :)
